Goals

Based on feedback from our first public meeting, the primary goals of ESLTN include:

  • Developing workshops and information sessions designed to meet the needs expressed by the members. There is a strong interest in pedagogical workshops and several people have stepped forward offering to lead such workshops. Other topics might include learning more about the steps to become self-employed (accreditation by Emploi-Quebec, accounting, marketing, etc.). Also crash courses on the ESL experience may be developed.
  • Developing a handbook which will include information about various regional language schools, provide clarification of exclusivity and contracts, propose a list of questions for initial job interviews, explain unemployment insurance, demystify self-employment and whatever else members propose and contribute.
  • Exploring the economic viability of teaching ESL in the Quebec region
  • Developing structure within the ESLTN
  • Collaboration with groups within the community.
  • Dissemination of information concerning the ESLTN through our website, newsletter, mailing and phone lists, etc.

We are actively seeking members and invite anyone interested in any of these areas to contact the steering committee member directing your area of interest.
